Mother tells the story of Ninten, a 12-year-old boy who journeys around the world using his psychic powers to collect eight melodies in order to save the planet from an evil race of mind-controlling aliens. Mother 2 tells the story of Ness, a young boy who journeys around the world also using psychic powers to collect eight melodies in order to save the future from an alien of pure evil, intending to sentence all of reality to the horror of eternal darkness. As it features two different games, its developer credits vary, but between both Mother and Mother 2, Shigesato Itoi acted as the designer and director, and music was composed by Keiichi Suzuki and Hirokazu Tanaka. The game was meant to promote the upcoming Mother 3 (also for the Game Boy Advance as the rebirth of the franchise, and it has currently been released only in Japan).

It is a compilation of the first two installments of the Mother series, MOTHER and MOTHER 2: GIYGAS STRIKES BACK! (known outside Japan as EarthBound Beginnings and EarthBound, respectively). THE CREDIT FOR THE VAST MAJORITY OF THIS GOES TO JEFFMAN, WHO ALSO WORKED ON THE MOTHER 3 TRANSLATION.Mother 1 + 2 (MOTHER 1 + 2 Mazā Wan-Tsū) is a console role-playing game developed by Ape Inc., Nintendo Tokyo R&D Products and HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance on June 20, 2003. There also still have to be a lot of fixes with the script and other parts of the translation before a beta patch can be officially released. It still has to be implemented in several other areas of the game though.

It also has Clyde Mandelin's Mother 1 Patch incorporated into it.Ĭurrently the core of the VWF is mostly complete. However, my current Mother 1+2 cart is the one with Mother 2 mostly unfinished with the either untranslated or glitchy text, (the Trashman version I think) and I still want to be able to play the 1:1 Mato M2 on physical GBA alongside my SFC copy of the same.

It is being led by Jeffman, who also did work on the Mother 3 Fan Translation. It's a translation that uses a Variable-Width-Font (VWF), just like Earthbound. OK, so there have been several fan translations of Mother 1+2 over the years, but here, we finally have a translation of the Mother 2 side of the game that translates the whole game, and not just the menus! (And it only took 16 years!)
